Description from the seller
Fascinating oil painting on board by the painter Innocenzo Giammaria, depicting one of the most famous archaeological and landscape monuments of Lazio: the Temple of Vesta at Tivoli.
The artist immortalizes the famous Roman peristyle perched on the Tivoli acropolis with a low‑angle perspective from below, of strong scenic impact.
In the composition, the circular structure with its fluted columns and Corinthian capitals stands out, flanked by the remains of the cella in opus incertum.
The masonry foundation rises above lush spontaneous vegetation rendered with tactile, vibrant brushstrokes in greens and ochres, while in the background the mountainous ranges are visible against a blue, clear sky.
The work belongs to the great Italian veduta tradition and the Grand Tour, interpreted with a luminous painterly rendering and a rich, tactile surface.
