Three polished ammonite fossils from Madagascar, dating to the Lower Cretaceous (about 145–100.5 million years ago), mounted on a black display stand in natural condition with original authenticity.
Description from the seller
Beautiful decorative composition featuring three genuine polished ammonite fossils from Madagascar, individually mounted on an elegant black metal display stand.
The ammonites have been carefully cut and polished to reveal their characteristic spiral morphology and intricate internal structures. Each specimen displays its own natural colours and patterns, ranging from warm brown and cream tones to darker mineralised areas.
Ammonites were marine cephalopod molluscs that inhabited the world's oceans for hundreds of millions of years before becoming extinct at the end of the Cretaceous period, approximately 66 million years ago. Their distinctive coiled shells were divided internally into chambers, which helped the animal regulate buoyancy.
The three specimens have different dimensions and are arranged at graduated heights, creating a balanced and visually striking composition. The minimalist black metal stand enhances the natural forms and colours of the fossils without distracting from them.
An attractive piece combining natural history, palaeontology and interior design, ideal for a collector's cabinet, study, living room or as an unusual decorative object.
