Paul Monnier (1893-1962) - Pont Saint-Bénézet Avignon

Paul Monnier (1893 - 1962) was a French artist best known for his watercolours and paintings of villages, churches and landscapes in France. His work demonstrates a keen interest in architecture and rural life, with subjects drawn from regions including Burgundy and Champagne.

Monnier worked in a traditional, figurative style. Tranquil compositions, subtle colours, and meticulous depictions of buildings and village scenes characterise his paintings. Although he is not among the best-known French artists of the twentieth century, his work is still appreciated by many collectors. Many of his works have been preserved through family ownership, including this one.
