Description from the seller
CONCEPT OF THE WORK
This piece pays tribute to the iconic Brigitte Bardot, reinterpreting her image through a perspective of contemporary expressionism. The portrait is built almost entirely from three essential elements: white, black, and a deep red that breaks the composition and inevitably directs the gaze to the actress’s face and lips.
Gesture strokes, splashes, and long sweeps of paint bring tension, strength, and spontaneity, distancing the portrait from a classical representation to make it a more emotional and visceral image. The contrast between Bardot’s elegance and the rawness of the painting creates a dialogue between the glamour of a bygone era and a current artistic language.
A piece that celebrates Brigitte Bardot as a symbol of cinema, beauty, and popular culture, maintaining her magnetism while translating it into a much freer and more expressive painting universe.
Original work hand-painted by the artist, belonging to his contemporary expressionism series and created through the overlay of strokes, splashes, and gestural painting.
