Banksy's Kate, a limited edition offset lithograph postcard from 2005, depicting a portrait of Kate Moss in a pop art style, on cardboard (15 × 10 cm), unsigned and in excellent condition, originating from the United Kingdom.
Description from the seller
This original postcard is linked to the Crude Oils exhibition, presented by Banksy in October 2005 at 100 Westbourne Grove, Notting Hill, London.
Crude Oils is an exhibition that has become emblematic in Banksy's career. The artist there presented a series of détournements of great works of art throughout history, blending references to classical painting, popular culture and his satirical universe.
Kate Moss reprises the concept of Andy Warhol's famous Marilyn Monroe portraits, replacing the Hollywood icon with the renowned British model. This work perfectly illustrates how Banksy distorts instantly recognizable images from popular culture to give them a new context.
The postcard was produced in the context of the Crude Oils exhibition and thus constitutes an original item directly associated with this historic 2005 exhibition.
Technique: offset lithography on cardboard.
