Extensive early standard work on fruit-tree cultivation and pomology. The book covers, among other things, planting, care, grafting, and cultivation of fruit trees as well as various fruit varieties.
Extent: XXXVI and 923 pages. With the four copperplates announced in the title, some of which are fold-out, and a folding table.
Contemporary half-leather binding with marbled boards and a spine label. The binding is heavily rubbed and bumped; corners, edges, and the spine show clear signs of age-related wear. The paper is browned and partly stained. The title page bears old handwritten ownership or inventory notes. The plates show age-related creases and wear.
An authentic, over 200-year-old reference book on the history of fruit growing. The photographs are part of the condition description.
