Two-volume illustrated German first edition from 1840 of Friedrich Förster’s Leben und Taten Friedrichs des Großen, Königs von Preußen, with 49 hand-coloured copper engravings, compact 14 × 11,8 cm, 1138 pages, in good condition, published by Meißen: Verlag von F.W. Goedsche, rebound in contemporary half‑cloth with marbled endpapers and fold-out maps or plates.

by Friedrich Förster. Published in 1840 by the renowned F. W. Goedsche Verlag in Meissen.
This edition fundamentally distinguishes itself from the standard copies of the time:
It is the extremely rare luxury variant with 49 contemporarily hand-colored copper engravings.
The fine, detailed coloring makes every plate a visual highlight and a historical unique piece.

Extent: Complete in 2 volumes bound.
Format: Compact, charming pocket size (approximately 14 x 11.8 cm).
Illustrations: All 49 original copper engravings present and in splendid, contemporary antique coloring (hand coloring).
