‘These are actually my best pictures!’ said Dirk Reinartz to himself a few years ago when he was looking through photographs from his trips to New York in 1974. He set about selecting them for publication in a book, but died a short time later.
Reinartz takes the viewer on his very own journey through the metropolis. He has found special characters and expressive faces among the masses of people. And in the city, which casts many shadows, he has created fascinating plays of light. Reinartz's photographs revive the atmosphere of a place that was full of possibilities in the mid-seventies and on the way to a new bloom.'
