Description from the seller
Original JPM “La Parisienne” Art Deco Brass Hotel Door Lock – Hôtel Saint Maurice, Lille, France, 1930s
In excellently professionally restored condition.
Rare 1930s original JPM (Jean-Pierre Maquennehen) “La Parisienne” hotel door lock, salvaged from the historic Hôtel Saint Maurice in Lille, France.
This authentic French Art Deco lock set is a beautiful example of the high-quality architectural hardware used in prestigious hotels during the 1930s. The substantial brass construction, geometric styling and distinctive period details make it both a functional piece of architectural history and an attractive decorative object.
The lock is marked with the original JPM factory stamp on the latch, featuring the characteristic stylised key with a heart-shaped bow. The latch also bears the historic French patent inscription “BTÉ S.G.D.G.” (“Breveté Sans Garantie du Gouvernement”), providing an important period detail and further supporting its French manufacture and authenticity.
The complete set comprises the brass door lock, original locking hardware and key.
The lock has been technically checked, cleaned, professionally polished and waxed, and is presented in excellent, ready-to-use condition while retaining appropriate signs of age and use. The polished brass gives the piece a particularly impressive appearance.
A highly decorative and increasingly collectible piece of original French Art Deco architectural hardware, with a documented provenance from a historic Lille hotel.
Please note: This item comes from a larger salvaged batch of original locks from the Hôtel Saint Maurice. The lock shown in the photographs is representative; the exact item supplied may differ minimally in details, patina or surface marks from the photographed example. All locks are in this excellent, professionally restored, condition.
