AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
A rare and highly impressive Ottoman talismanic bronze bowl, measuring approximately 22 cm in diameter.
The entire interior, rim and visible surface are densely covered with finely hand-engraved Arabic inscriptions, symbols and talismanic elements, leaving virtually no empty space. The exceptional density of the decoration gives the piece a very strong visual presence and makes it a particularly striking example of Ottoman inscribed metalwork.
Bowls of this type are traditionally associated with healing practices, blessings, protective prayers, spiritual protection and folk devotional customs. Water or other liquids were sometimes placed inside such vessels, with the inscriptions and talismanic symbols believed to convey spiritual significance and protection.
This example is especially notable for its large 22 cm size and the extraordinary amount of inscriptional decoration covering almost the entire surface. The piece displays clear signs of hand craftsmanship, an attractive aged patina and a strong antique character.
A rare and highly collectible example with strong historical, ethnographic and visual appeal.
