Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Meteorite Aletai is a rectangular pendant made from an iron meteorite from Xinjiang, China, measuring 37 mm high, 11 mm wide and 70 mm deep, weighing 10 g, with visible Widmanstätten lines.
Description from the seller
Handcrafted rectangular pendant 45 x 20 with a 10-gram section of the Aletai meteorite, made by an artisan with resin and metal.
The Widmanstatten lines are evident.
The dimensions of the meteorite piece are 37 x 11 x 7 mm; the meteorite alone weighs 10 grams.
Aletai is a ferrous meteorite (coarse octahedrite) and belongs to the very rare chemical group IIIE-an (i.e., the chemical group IIIE with anomalous properties).
Currently, only two meteorites fall into this group.
Unlike other IIIE members, the ferrous meteorites of Aletai are characterized by higher contents of Au and Co and by exceptional Ir contents that do not fit the Au–Ir trend extrapolation of other IIIE ferrous meteorites.
Overall, combining geochemical data with petrographic observations, we concur with the Meteoritical Bulletin 105 conclusion that Aletai is an anomalous IIIE ferrous meteorite.
The composition of Aletai ferrous meteorites is so unique that no other specimen in the global meteorite collection is comparable.
