A Japanese cloisonné enamel plate (Shippoyaki) with an ume blossom design on a gold background, 30 x 30 x 1 cm, made of copper with enamel and gold plating, produced by Ando Cloisonné Co. Nagoya in 1970–1980, in mint condition with its original Tomobako box.
Description from the seller
Japanese Cloisonné Enamel Plate (Shippoyaki) - Decoration with Prunus Blossom (Ume) on a Golden Background - With Original Box (Tomobako)
Splendid and refined Japanese ornamental plate crafted with the intricate cloisonné enamel technique (Shippoyaki).
The piece stands out for a background fully worked with a lustrous golden texture with aventurine-like or gold-leaf effect, imparting remarkable brightness and depth to the piece.
The central decoration features a sinuous branch of plum blossoms (ume), one of the most celebrated and traditional symbols of spring and renewal in Japanese culture.
The petals are rendered with enamels in shades of white and softly blended pink, adorned with thin metallic threads that outline the contours with absolute geometric and artisanal precision.
The plate is kept in its original presentation box, wooden/cardboard covered, internally lined with blue satin fabric, ideal for both preservation and display as a collectible
The Mark on the Box: In the top-right corner of the blue silk lining there is a white-and-gold label. It reads 安藤七宝 (Ando Shippo), identifying the renowned Ando Cloisonné Co. of Nagoya, one of Japan's most prestigious historic producers, active since the Meiji era and an official supplier to the Imperial Household.
