Exquisite Antique Construction Element on an Iron Stand – India/Nepal, 18th Century

Description

For sale is a fascinating, authentic construction element made of solid wood, dated to the 18th century. This historical object comes from the border region between India and Nepal and testifies to the masterful, traditional woodcarving craftsmanship of that era.

Presumably this piece originally served as a balcony support (an architectural support) that adorned magnificent wooden facades.

The object is sold together with a custom-made, modern iron stand, included in the delivery. The wooden element can be easily removed from the stand. This combination sets the antique fragment perfectly in scene and turns it into a sculptural art object for modern interiors.
