Maître de Provins 1680-1740 à Rouen - France - Mortar (2) - Airain - Bronze

Magnificent bronze mortar from the 17th century with its pestle, attributed to the Master of Provins – active 1680 to 1740 in Rouen – France. The mortar is in perfect proportions, without buttresses. Perfect condition, no cracks or losses, very beautiful dark patina, and the mortar rings clearly like a bell. Matching pestle. Several examples of the same type are kept at the Musée de Provins and the Provinois. A very beautiful piece for a collection.
