Description from the seller
Miguel de Miguel – International Visual Artist*
Miguel is a Spanish visual artist who began his career in 1980 and has developed a solid and emotionally intense trajectory, recognized worldwide. He has exhibited in cities such as New York, Hong Kong, Paris, Buenos Aires, and Mexico City, and his work is part of some of the most important international collections. He currently lives and works in Italy.
His painting combines figure and abstraction with a language of its own, where vibrant color, symbolic forms, and deep textures speak of identity, memory, and interior silence. Faceless figures, symbolic natures, and scenes suspended in time form a poetic and delicate universe.
With more than four decades of creativity, Miguel de Miguel offers work that is not only observed but experienced from the most intimate part of oneself. An art that transcends borders, styles, and words.
Miguel de Miguel transforms the female figure into a territory of transformation. The face, fractured into planes of color, seems to emerge from living matter where red, blue, green, and yellow dialogue intensely. Identity stops being a portrait and becomes presence: a woman who is built and unmade simultaneously before our gaze.
The pictorial matter, energetic and spontaneous, adds a nearly sculptural dimension to the work. The blue background introduces a space of silence that allows the figure to manifest with all its strength. The work thus sits between figuration and abstraction, between what is visible and what remains hidden.
It speaks of transformation as an essential condition of being: the figure represents not only a woman but the inner process of becoming something else.
