Domaine JC Belland Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 1988, bottle size 0.75 L, 1 bottle.
Description from the seller
Corton-Charlemagne is the only Burgundy vineyard bearing the name of two emperors: Othon, emperor of Outre-Rhin, giving rise to Courthon and then Corton, followed by Carolus Magnus, Charlemagne. Located on the iconic "Colline des Cortons", this Grand Cru has established the hillside's international notoriety. The "Colline" or "Montagne des Cortons" is a true mosaic of styles and terroirs, comprising about 500 hectares of vines planted in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. It brings together the villages of Ladoix-Serrigny, Aloxe-Corton and Pernand-Vergelesses, between the Côte des Pierres (south of the Côte de Beaune, where the vine mingles with the stone quarries of Comblanchien) and Savigny-lès-Beaune (north of the Côte de Beaune). The vineyard sits at elevations between 250 and 330 meters, forming an amphitheater like no other in the Côte. In addition to Corton-Charlemagne in white, the Montagne de Corton also produces the red Corton. Corton-Charlemagne wines are of a beautiful green-gold hue and reach their fullness after five to ten years of aging. On the nose, aromas of fresh walnuts give way to a broad and generous substance, often tempered by aging in oak barrels. This, in turn, lends them in their youth some honeyed notes, or even dried or exotic fruits.
