Description from the seller
New Series – Lost Souls
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made himself known with a series dedicated to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later, intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Lost Souls
With this series, David Law ventures into pure and dark universes, inhabited by phantom silhouettes suspended in mid-air. These indistinct, almost erased presences wander through strange landscapes where emptiness becomes matter. Through a visual narration built with contemporary graphic tools, the artist explores the notions of isolation, trace and memory. A silent journey, at the borders of the visible and the invisible.
Edition & Manufacture
Each artwork is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are made on aluminum with integrated rear mounting. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with a soft UV- and humidity-resistant laminate, ensuring excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Biography
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the dedicated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops a body of work as author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
