Title:
Original Bronze Sculpture 'Balance Horse' – Mohana van den Kroonenberg – Remarkable! 1975
and signed by the artist MK.
Description:
For sale: a magnificent and dynamic bronze artwork, ‘Balance Horse’, by Dutch artist Mohana van den Kroonenberg (Amsterdam, 1967). Her sculptures are characterized by a powerful expression and appear in exclusive, small editions. The coarse, expressive modeling is a hallmark of her work. This impressive piece depicts a horse in perfect, hovering balance and is mounted on a tall, slender pedestal of granite or natural stone. The interplay between the rugged, patinated bronze and the sleek plinth gives the object a timeless, museum-like appearance that fits both a modern and a classical interior. Condition of the piece: both the sculpture and the pedestal are in absolutely pristine condition.
There are no damages, scratches, or chips on the bronze or on the corners of the stone pedestal.

The concept of balance and equilibrium is a recurring theme in Mohana van den Kroonenberg’s work. Her sculptures explore harmony and connection—a search for the point where movement and stillness meet. The 'Balance Horse' embodies this philosophy powerfully. The jumping horse, in balance on a narrow granite pedestal, captures the exact moment when dynamism and stability touch. Mohana’s animals — horses, hares, donkeys — radiate carefreeness. They leap, run, and scramble, always optimistic and self-assured. With their thick bellies and short legs, they remind us of the complexity of the world, if only for a moment.
Mohana van den Kroonenberg (Amsterdam, 1967) studied mechanical engineering and biomedical technology at the University of Twente before pursuing her passion for art at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. After years of intensive sculpting, including a period in Paris, she has developed into a versatile artist. Her bronze sculptures are permanently exhibited and sold by Smelik & Stokking Galleries. In addition to being a sculptor, Mohana is also a writer. Her debut 'Moorddiner' (2010, Van Oorschot) was awarded five stars in de Volkskrant.
