Description from the seller
Title: Fragments of Mediterranean Light
In this oil on canvas work (40x30 cm), Fabio Costantino orchestrates a lively and poetic synthesis between figuration and expressive abstraction, capturing the sunny, tactile essence of a Mediterranean corner. The composition is built on a structured play of architectural volumes, crowned by the warm silhouette of a dome emerging from an ochre and gold background.
The deft use of the spatula and dense brushstrokes lends relief and three-dimensionality to the surface. The color contrasts are of strong visual impact: the deep cobalt blue of the shadows and sky dialog with the warm tones of brick and earth. At the center of the painting, a burst of vibrant color emerges, guided by magenta and the bright pink of bougainvillea and the vivid green of the vegetation, breaking the geometric rigidity of the buildings and infusing immediacy and freshness.
In the lower band, the forms soften into fluid glazes, touches of white and luminous reflections that evoke a mirror of water or the sun’s glare on a square. Costantino transforms an urban view into an intense sensory and emotional experience, celebrating the heat, light, and magic of Southern villages. A painting of modern and elegant character, of great decorative value for contemporary art collections.
