Description from the seller
This post-war period vase is a superb artistic creation in hand-blown solid crystal freely shaped, perfectly aligned with the modernist productions of the prestigious Belgian crystal manufactory Val Saint Lambert. The piece takes on a highly expressive sculptural organic form, characterized by a robust ovoid body thickened in the mass and flanked on its sides by pulled reliefs forming solid handles fluidly integrated into the parison. The neck develops dramatically by flaring out widely to form a protective corolla or funnel opening with a polished straight rim. The exceptional craftsmanship focusing on the density and clarity of the clear crystal yields striking optical refraction effects, as the undulating movements and grooves inserted into the heart of the material beautifully catch every light shift to reveal a fascinating three-dimensional quality.
The item measures a total height of 19 cm with a generous top rim diameter of 105 mm (equivalent to 10.5 cm), boasting a particularly heavy and dense individual weight of 1900 g. The smoothed and polished underside of the clear base features the authentic cursive handwritten signature of the Val Saint Lambert manufactory engraved with a diamond-point, guaranteeing the perfect authenticity of this collectible piece. The overall condition of preservation of this crystal is good, as the piece retains perfect clarity and a remarkable original brilliance without any internal clouding or structural opacification. One simply notes some light signs of age-related wear beneath the base of the foot, as well as minor tiny superficial micro-scratches consistent with time, which is completely normal and expected for a decorative object of this period.
