Description from the seller
New edition De Statenhofpers (September 26, 2026)
"On May 16, 2026, Nop Maas passed away. He enjoyed great fame as a literary historian. In the national press, in response to this aspect of his career, there was rightly a lot of attention given following his death.
Additionally, he was an almost relentlessly tireless printer who under the imprint ‘De Korenmaat’ brought to light a huge amount of hand-press printed editions. Editions with not only great literary-historical importance but also visually very appealing due to the magnificent drawings by Paul van der Steen in many of Nop’s editions.
Although we had maintained friendly relations even before the founding of ‘De Korenmaat,’ that friendship deepened through our shared passion.
Due to his illness, Nop had to halt his activities as a printer prematurely. As a ‘printer’ he did not wish to go on living. For that reason a text, proposed by Gerben Wynia, could no longer be produced by De Korenmaat.
It concerns a edition with fragments from letters by Henk Romein Meijer (1929 – 2008) which he sent in 1955 to his wife, who was living in Australia. The fragments describe his relationship and dealings with Gerard Reve and Hanny Michaelis (and more casually Willem Frederik Hermans).
As a tribute to our friend, this edition now appears under the joint imprint of De Korenmaat and the Statenhofpers.
Paul van der Steen specially drew for this edition a magnificent triple portrait.
"Vastgelopen, Henk Romein Meijer on Gerard Reve and Hanny Michaelis", with contributions, annotations, and an afterword by Gerben Wynia, was set in the type Spectrum, which Nop loved so much and used in many of his editions.
Jan de Jong printed it on Simili Japon in a run of 100 copies, of which 75 are intended for sale. This is number 46.
It has a length of 24 pages.
