Description from the seller
Laurent Yvon (born in 1984) - The Veins of the Heart
Mixed media collage, acrylic painting and wool
Dimensions: 55 x 46 cm
Date: 2023 / 2024
A female figure sketched in broad strokes, the face tilted and the eyes closed, as if suspended between surrender and inner tension. Red wool threads, sewn and stretched across the surface, draw a venous network that traverses the hair, the neck and the chest, to a red heart marked at the center of the torso. The composition, very gestural, combines flat areas, scratches and pasted fragments in a palette of green/black/white violently contrasted by red, creating a sense of urgency and pulsation.
The work plays on the contrast between the fragility of the drawing and the materiality of the thread, transforming emotion into a physical trace, almost anatomical.
Contemporary visual artist, Laurent Yvon develops an expressive body of work centered on human emotions.
Influenced by figures such as Jean Dubuffet or Egon Schiele, his work sits in a sensibility close to naive art (art brut) and surrealism.
His intense compositions, often focused on the face and the body, convey an instinctive approach to drawing and painting, where fragmentation and hybridization of forms become the vectors of a strong emotional charge.
