Description from the seller
Laurent Yvon (born 1984) - The Nightlight with Blue Eyes (2023)
Acrylic paint, pastels and paper collage on canvas
Dimensions: 50 x 40 cm.
Date: 2023
Expressive portrait of a figure with orange hair, treated in facets and angular lines, on a blue background sprinkled with small marks and traversed by fluid gestures. The blue, direct and almost electric gaze contrasts with the shattered construction of the face, as if the softness of the surroundings were surrounding an inner tension. The flaming hairstyle and the bold black lines, very free, give a sense of movement and contained struggle. An image-poem: beauty and clash, delicacy and strength, united in the same face.
Contemporary visual artist Laurent Yvon develops an expressive body of work centered on human emotions.
Influenced by figures such as Jean Dubuffet or Egon Schiele, his work is rooted in a sensibility close to Outsider Art (art brut) and surrealism.
His intense compositions, often focused on the face and body, express an instinctive approach to drawing and painting, where fragmentation and hybridization of forms become the vectors of a strong emotional charge.
