Requiem, an original 2024 mixed-media portrait by French artist Yvon Laurent, 50 × 50 cm on canvas, unframed and signed, with no certificate of authenticity.
Description from the seller
Laurent Yvon (born 1984) - Requiem (2024)
Mixed media (collage and acrylic painting) on canvas
Dimensions: 50 x 50 cm.
A quasi votive-inspired portrait: a veiled, calm and contemplative female figure stands out at the center of a field of deep blue paint. The background, worked with textures, inscriptions and signs, is rhythmized by violet highlights and musical notations, like a murmur surrounding the image. The painted words, arranged on the periphery, act as a choir of thoughts or prayers, reinforcing the ambivalence between sacred and intimate. A piece that is at once meditative and urban, where the image becomes a surface of projection.
Contemporary visual artist Laurent Yvon develops an expressive work centered on human emotions.
Influenced by figures such as Jean Dubuffet or Egon Schiele, his work rests within a sensibility close to brut art and surrealism.
His intense compositions, often articulated around the face and body, convey an instinctive approach to drawing and painting, where fragmentation and hybridization of forms become the vectors of a strong emotional charge.
