Yvon Laurent, Le carnaval des consciences (2023), an original mixed-media collage and acrylic painting from France, in a contemporary style, depicting portraits, 115 × 75 cm, signed and unframed, in excellent condition with a certificate of authenticity on the back.
Description from the seller
Laurent Yvon (born in 1984) - The Carnival of Consciences (2023)
Mixed media (collage and acrylic painting)
Dimensions: 115 x 75 cm
Large vertical format built like a dense crowd of faces, masks and fragments of bodies, interwoven in successive strata. The image operates by saturation: overlays of drawings, glued papers, repetitive motifs, nervous strokes and translucent flat areas create a bustling, almost hypnotic scene. The gazes cross, duplicate themselves, and lose themselves in a network of lines and vivid colors (blues, reds, yellows, purples), punctuated by darker zones that structure the whole. The work evokes an inner theatre multiplied, a mental “carnival” where identities mingle, where emotion becomes a mask, and where consciousness appears as a procession of contradictory figures.
Contemporary visual artist, Laurent Yvon develops an expressive body of work focused on human emotions. Influenced by figures such as Jean Dubuffet or Egon Schiele, his work sits within a sensibility close to art brut and surrealism. His intense compositions, often centered around the face and the body, express an instinctive approach to drawing and painting, where fragmentation and hybridization of forms become the vectors of a strong emotional charge.
