Beautiful official and corrected sixteenth-century edition of the famous canon law by Gratian, promoted by Pope Gregory XIII. This edition guaranteed the accuracy of ecclesiastical legal texts, becoming an integral part of the Corpus Iuris Canonici. The work includes the emended text and the critical notes, the Canones Poenitentiales (part of Enrico Susa's Summa Aurea), the Canones Apostolorum and the Margarita Decreti. Three parts in one volume with continuous pagination. Stunning sixteenth-century full vellum binding. Calligraphic title on the spine. Spine with cords. Frontispiece in red and black.
