Total dimensions: 56×48×4 cm

This oil on canvas painting estimated period 18th century, extremely well executed but unsigned , probably Dutch or flammish? The subject is most probably a Dutch merchant's wife from the traders middle class of that time cause she is wearing heavy gold earrings and necklace.
The symmetry of this masterful portrait is practically perfect. It is worth noting that even when viewed diagonally, one gets the impression that the lady is still looking at you, from each side one positions oneself.
Just a couple of paint losses about 1 cm, written verso famille Nicholas in pencil and something else undecipherable, the artistic touch makes one think of a master painter or someone from his circle, in fact the reproduction of the facial details such as the wrinkles, especially noticeable in black and white, makes one believe that it could be a sleeper.
