Description from the seller
Z for Munch — The Artphabet
Edition 2/10 — 60 x 60 cm
This work is part of The Artphabet, an artistic project developed by the digital artist Cess, where each letter of the alphabet pays homage to great figures in the history of art and contemporary visual culture.
The piece interprets the letter Z as a direct wink to the visual universe of Edvard Munch and, in particular, to his most recognizable work, The Scream. The figure integrates into the very shape of the letter, adopting a curved and tense posture that reinforces the sense of anguish, unease, and disarray characteristic of the Norwegian artist's imagination.
The golden face, with an open mouth and hands placed on either side of the head, functions as the main expressive focal point of the composition. Its metallic finish contrasts with the black, smooth, and volumetric body, creating a sculptural, minimalist, and contemporary reinterpretation of one of the most universal icons in the history of art.
The form of the letter Z is constructed through the figure’s own body, generating a compact and recognizable composition in which typography and figure merge into a single piece. The neutral background allows the contrast between the dark surfaces and the golden face to stand out clearly, focusing all attention on the work’s expressiveness.
Executed entirely in 3D (CGI), the piece has been modeled and rendered with a sculptural approach. Every element—from the body’s curvature to the facial modeling, the hands, and the material finishes—has been carefully crafted to achieve a strong, clean, and contemporary visual presence.
The Artphabet has gained notable international diffusion, being published in numerous media outlets specializing in art, design, and visual culture, and consolidating as a prominent series within current digital art.
Cess is an artist specialized in digital art, CGI, and artificial intelligence, with a solid track record and collaborations with international brands such as Apple, Google, Prada, Vogue, and MTV.
The work is presented in high-quality Giclée print on polycotton canvas, ensuring faithful color reproduction, volumes, and nuances of the original digital work.
