Description from the seller

Item Description:

A refined Aizu-nuri lacquer fumibako (letter and postcard box), a traditional craft from Fukushima Prefecture, Japan.

Aizu lacquerware has been made in the Aizu region of Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, for more than 400 years and is admired for its deep, lustrous finish and the quality of its decoration. This box is finished in lacquer with gold accents, and its compact form (W15 × H4 × D21 cm) is designed to hold postcards and letter paper. It sits naturally on a writing desk or shelf, and is a fitting piece for those who enjoy Japanese stationery and calligraphy culture.

Unused old stock is increasingly hard to find, and this piece is offered with its original box. It is a ready-to-display piece for collectors of Japanese lacquer and traditional crafts.

Size:

Height: 4 cm
Width: 15 cm
Depth: 21 cm

Condition:

Unused old stock with no signs of use, though there are some minor scratches from storage. The original box shows some handwriting, stains, rubbing and tears due to age.

Shipping Note:

The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by DHL, FedEx, or Japan Post depending on the situation.

It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally.
Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost.
These charges are the buyer's responsibility.

Sometimes Customs or the delivery company in your country may contact you for customs clearance via phone or email. Please make sure that you can answer the phone. If you don't, the parcel will return to me and it will cost double the shipping fee for reshipping.

I appreciate your cooperation.
