Jac. P. Thijsse, A.J. van Laren, Jan Voerman Jr., L.W.R. Wenckebach e.a. - Lente, Zomer, Herfst, Winter, Texel en 6 andere Verkade-albums - 1906-1938

Offered are 11 of the 30 Verkade picture albums that were published between 1903 and 1940 by Bakkerij ‘De Ruyter’ of the firm Verkade & Comp. in Zaandam (eventually without the bakery’s name). The albums were written by Jac. P. Thijsse, except number 9, which was written by A.J. van Laren.

The pictures of the albums, respectively the band designs, were made by Sam van Beek, Jac. J. Koeman, Edzard Koning, Jan van Oort, Cornelis Rol, Henricus Rol, Jan Voerman Jr. and L.W.R. Wenckebach. In the Texel album there is a nice exlibris by Lotte Ruting.

All albums are first editions and complete.

Condition: most copies have been well read and leafed through, presumably by various generations of readers. The pages are sometimes weather-stained to varying degrees, and the glue has often left marks on the facing pages. The bindings often show shelf- and handling marks. In the Lente album pages 17-20 are creased, in Zomer pages 17-40 are loose, in Herfst pages 55-58 are creased and stained, page 23-24 has a paper fault; in De bonte wei the front and back covers are damaged in one corner, Winter and De Vecht sit a bit loose in the binding.
