Bernard Vortmann ladies Swiss Made quartz wristwatch with a 0.03 ct brilliant in a gold bezel, silver dial, gold/steel case, 31 mm diameter, leather strap, vintage condition with slight wear.
Description from the seller
Bernard Vortmann – Swiss Made – 0.03 ct brilliant cut set in gold-plating – Designer watch – ca. 1990
Exceptional and rarely offered wristwatch by Bernard Vortmann with a markedly puristic yet elegant design.
Bernard Vortmann traces back an unusually long German watchmaking tradition. The history of the Vortmann name in watchmaking goes back to 1851, when Bernard Vortmann in Recklinghausen began producing watches and later founded an internationally active tower clock factory. In the 20th century, the watch trade continued as its own business division. Vortmann wristwatches are comparatively rare today and are often characterized by a distinctive, reduced design language.
The characteristic round case features a broad, finely brushed bezel. A striking feature is the 0.03 ct brilliant cut (TW/VS) set directly into the bezel at 12 o’clock, in a gold setting. Together with the gold-colored hands and hour markers, this creates a subtle and high-quality contrast against the silvery dial.
The minimalist dial only carries fine dot indices and the Bernard-Vortmann logo. A date window and a seconds hand were deliberately omitted – a design choice that emphasizes the clear ornamental and design character of this watch.
Noteworthy is also the exceptionally low profile: with a case height of only about 4 mm, the watch sits very elegantly and flat on the wrist.
Inside, a Swiss-made quartz movement with 6 jewels operates. The movement appears clean and finely finished.
The inner side of the case back bears the Bernard-Vortmann logo as well as the individual case number 143-09-2843.
Completed by its original Bernard-Vortmann leather strap.
An unusual vintage designer watch, notable especially for its restrained design, the ultra-flat case, and the prominently integrated diamond into the bezel.
