Description from the seller

Powerful yet elegantly curved hirazukori sunnobi tanto. Possibly late muromachi. The attribution is given for reference only, and the piece remains subject to authentication.

It is mumei without papers but an expert polisher in japan said it is Shiga-Seki school from Mino or Owari province.
Nice bicolor steel hada, elegant hamon, fine boshi and kissaki.

It had a high quality polish, minor staining only.
It is mumei, but ubu and original file marks are still seen, so a clean patination.

About the koshirae , the tsuba is elegantly formed, the tsuka has distinctively good iron fuchi and kashira with fine gold and silver inlays of vine motifs in good condition (I just cleaned them from old stains), they are probably from the Edo period. The habiki moves.
The saya looks like repainted and refurbished (not original) but does the job.

The Shiga-Seki school was a renowned branch of Japanese swordsmiths that originated in Mino Province before relocating to Shiga village in Owari Province around the Bunmei or Meio eras in the late 15th century.
The name and traditions of the school were passed down through multiple generations of smiths well into the late Muromachi period.
The school's master smiths served as an important bridge in swordsmithing history, and the origins of the later Owari Shinto school can be traced directly back to these koto artisans.

Blades from the Shiga-Seki school were crafted primarily in the Seki-den style, featuring active and distinctive work.
The forged steel typically exhibits itame-hada mixed with mokume-hada, strong ji-nie and visible chikei lines. The surface often carries a characteristic darkish or blackish tinge.
The temper patterns are usually gunome-midare
These feautres are exactly matching this blade.

Nagasa 38.2 cm. Sori 0.9 cm.
width 31mm
thickness: 5mm
sori: 9mm
full sword length 61cm
