Description from the seller
Daniel PILOT (XX-XXI) - "Abstract Composition and Lyric Geometry" - Original work in mixed media.
Contemporary artist of note: Winner of the Casimir Raymond prize, Frédéric Clot benefits from solid institutional recognition and galleries in Europe (Switzerland, Lisbon).
A powerful and captivating contemporary composition by the French painter Daniel Pilot, fully aligned with Abstract Expressionism and lyrical abstraction.
The work testifies to the artist's characteristic handling of material, accumulating rich textural effects, layering of pictorial layers, and precise scratches (sgraffito). The composition centers on a luminous off-white core, deftly enclosed by dark masses of blue-black and earth. Two translucent blue geometric squares and pale ochre impastos structure the space with rigor, while fine incisions and nerve-like tracings (evoking Art Brut) energize the whole.
The mastered mixed technique (blending oil and acrylic) reveals expert use of the mediums worked with a spatula and scratched with a fine point to make the chromatic underlayers vibrate.
The work bears the artist's fluid and cursive handwritten signature, Pilot, in black in the lower right corner. It is presented élégantly on a textured white panel in the Marie-Louise style, offering an immediate gallery-type presentation.
