Lauréat waterproof 17 jewels, a hand-wound mechanical men’s watch from the 1950s, with a 34 mm chromed case, silver sunburst dial with applied indices, and an aftermarket cognac leather strap (18 mm); in good condition with visible wear, no original box, papers, or warranty, shipped insured.
Description from the seller
Classic mechanical men's wristwatch from the Lauréat brand, dating from the period 1950-1960. The model features a silver-toned sunburst dial with applied indices and a central seconds hand.
The Lauréat brand is historically linked to the watch importer A. Kinsbergen (Pontiac). The chrome-plated case shows wear to the plating and patina in line with its age, which contributes to the authentic vintage character of the piece. The watch is powered by a hand-wound mechanical movement with 17 jewels. The screw-back case is made of stainless steel and bears the factory markings "Antimagnetic", "Stainless Steel Back" and "Waterprotected". On the side of the case there is a specific case marking (punsel).
The mechanical movement has been tested on a timegrapher and operates very accurately with a tiny deviation of only +5 seconds per day. The amplitude of 251° indicates healthy energy transfer, and the beat error of 1.6 ms falls within acceptable standards for a vintage watch.
The watch is mounted on an unworn, aftermarket cognac-colored leather strap with white stitching. The lug width is 18 mm. This lot represents a representative example of a mid-century European watch, suitable for collectors of mechanical watches from this era.
