A monumental solid oak wardrobe from circa 1650–1720, Germany, antique with patina, offering generous storage and a disassemblable construction for easy transport.
Description from the seller
The monumental architectural form, substantial oak construction and beautiful aged patina give thispiece a particularly strong historic character. More than simply a functional piece of furniture, it is an impressive decorative statement that can become a focal point in a classical, historic or eclectic interior.
The wardrobe offers generous internal storage space. During its long history, the interior was adapted for the practical storage of clothing. Two internal shelves were removed to create space for hanging garments, while the lower shelf remains and can conveniently be used for shoes or other items.
This later adaptation is part of the history of the piece and makes this centuries-old wardrobe particularly practical for use in a modern home.
IMPORTANT — THE WARDROBE CAN BE DISASSEMBLED AND REASSEMBLED
The wardrobe is currently fully assembled, as shown in the photographs.
However, an important feature of its construction is that the wardrobe can be disassembled for transportation and subsequently reassembled.
This is particularly useful considering its substantial size. When disassembled, the individual sections are much easier to transport through doorways, staircases and to upper floors.
Reassembly is relatively straightforward. With approximately 3–4 people, the wardrobe can be assembled in around one hour.
Depending on the buyer’s preference, the wardrobe can therefore be delivered fully assembled or disassembled for easier transportation and installation.
The wardrobe is in antique condition consistent with its considerable age. Natural traces of age, wear and patina contribute to the authentic character and history of the piece.
A rare, substantial and highly decorative example of early European oak furniture, combining an impressive historic appearance with practical usability in a contemporary interior.
