AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Convolute of German artisanal crafts & Art Deco (9-piece) – Brass lid box by Wilhelm Giesbert (Aachen), spoon by Bründl (Starnberg) and others – Germany, ca. 1920–1950

For sale is a decorative collection of 10 objects in hand-worked brass, offering a fascinating testimony to German arts and crafts and the workshop craft of the first half of the 20th century. The lot shines with renowned manufacturer stamps and an untouched original patina.

The collection highlights in detail:
1. Art Deco lid box by Wilhelm Giesbert (Aachen):
The most important piece of the lot. On the bottom originally marked with the workshop stamp “W. GIESBERT AACHEN” as well as the model number “№ 6”. Wilhelm Giesbert was a lecturer at the College of Arts and Crafts Aachen. Characteristic, strictly geometric design with ball bands and a fluted knob from around 1920/1930.

2. Hand-worked brass spoon by Bründl (Starnberg):
Marked on the back with “Bründl Starnberg / HANDARBEIT”. Typically waved-forged shaft and finely punched surface from the well-known Bavarian workshop.

3. Decorative plate with engraving:
Marked on the back with the model number “1600”. Filigree, concentric punchings in a historicizing style.

4. Complementary workshop ensemble (7 pieces): A classic chamber candelabrum with a thumb handle, a smaller engraved plate, a rectangular embossed scoop, and three small coasters/small dishes. These pieces are unmarked but complete the ensemble craft-wise.

Condition:
All objects are in coveted original condition with historic aging patina (oxidation traces, subtle stains and scratches). Unpolished and unrestored – exactly as collectors of design objects from this era appreciate. The Giesbert box closes cleanly and stands stably on its feet.
