Girolamo Maria Di Sant'Anna. History of the Life, Virtues and Miracles of St. Januarius. Naples, Stamperia di Stefano Abbate, 1733. Rare edition of the famous work on the most venerated of Neapolitan saints. The work narrates the life, miracles and martyrdom of Saint Januarius, the translations of the relics, the protection of the city and the famous prodigy of the blood. The volume also describes the famous Chapel of the Treasure with the priceless collection of jewels kept there, the churches erected in the Kingdom in honor of the Saint and the feasts celebrated every year. Parchment binding of the period. Title in gold on the spine. Spine redone in nineteenth-century canvas. Frontispiece in red and black. Magnificent frontispiece drawn by Francesco Solimena with the bust of St. Januarius and three angels, one of whom bears the famous ampulla with the Saint's blood and another bears the coat of arms of the city of Naples.
