Six Montereau Empire creamware talking plates from France, circa 1800–1850, with underglaze prints after engravings including Don Quixote, Robinson Crusoe and Theatre Italien Paris; in excellent condition with minimal wear, though one plate has a small chip and hairline, each measuring about 22 cm square and 2.5 cm high, weight 1.92 g.

A rare early group of French Monterey talking plates featuring prints from Robinson Crusoe and Don Quixote and the Theatre Italien Paris.
These plates were made prior to the amalamation with Creil in 1819 and most are marked with the abreviation M au for Montereau .
These pieces were made in imitation of English Wedgewood creamare with fine quality under glaze-transfer printing from steel engravings.
Subjects include;
Don Quixote dubbed a Knight Errant, and The Princess of Micomicon intreats Don Quixote, 1725 both originally engraved by
James Mynde (1702 - 1771) after paintings by
Charles Antoine Coypel (1694 - 1752)
Sancho Panza Being Tossed in a Blanket after Pierre Charles Trémolières (French, 1703–1739)
Robinson Crusoe meets the plantation owners
Theatre Italien Paris built around 1780.
All in very good condition for age with minima scratching from use apart from one th Sanch one with small chip and hairline.
