Inspired by Michelangelo's David, David, the Gaze offers a contemporary interpretation of one of the most emblematic faces in art history. By isolating a fragment of the face, the composition concentrates all its intensity on the gaze. The monumental nature of the sculpture gives way to a more intimate vision, imbued with depth and expressiveness.

Technique
Each drawing begins with an almost imperceptible imprint, made with a round point. This first mark helps me prepare the composition while preserving the whiteness of the paper.
Next comes the blue Bic ballpoint pen. The curved, spontaneous, and interwoven lines accumulate and overlap to gradually give birth to forms, volumes, and contrasts. The density of the strokes builds the shadows and reveals the depth of the drawing, while the white spaces preserve light and balance in the composition.
Reworkings of the line may reveal small ink dots, witnesses of the manual gesture and an integral part of the work.
It is in this meeting of precision and spontaneity that my work expresses itself: a controlled construction, carried by the freedom of the stroke.
