André Chevrillon. The Puritans of the Desert in southern Algeria. Paris, Le Livre Contemporain, sd [circa 1941], 168 pp.
An in-folio volume (330x250 mm), loose leaves, with a flapped dust cover, in a case. Signs of wear on the case otherwise a very good overall state. Interior very fresh, no foxing.
Edition adorned with illustrations by Paul-Elie Dubois, wood-engraved by Pierre Bouchet; with 3 full-page illustrations (out of 4, one is missing). This copy ends at p. v168, several pages at the end of the work are missing.
Accompanying are the color-illustrated menus for the dinners of 22 June 1937 (illustrated by Paul-Elie Dubois) and 20 November 1954 (illustrator unknown) from Le Livre Contemporain, and an anonymous painting probably acrylic.
Missing the page of printing justification (colophon).
