Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro (Funchal, February 5, 1985) is a Portuguese footballer who preferably plays as a left winger. He is regarded as one of the greatest players of all time and has been under contract with Saudi club Al-Nassr since December 30, 2022, earning over $285 million per year. This salary makes Ronaldo the highest-paid footballer ever. Until 2013 he was the most expensive footballer of all time. In 2015 he became the all-time top scorer of the UEFA Champions League/European Cup I as well as the most prolific Real Madrid player ever. He joined in 2018 the small group of players who have won the European Cup I/UEFA Champions League at least five times, and the only player to achieve this with two different clubs. On his club career honours, he also lists seven league titles, five national cups, six national super cups, three European super cups, and four world club championships. Ronaldo is the only footballer ever to have scored at five FIFA World Cups for national teams.

On August 27, 2021, Manchester United announced Ronaldo's return. During his first spell at Manchester United he inherited the number seven shirt from David Beckham and has since built a brand around 'CR7'. He has now regained this number; this time reportedly relinquished by teammate Edison Cavani. In his Premier League return, at home against Newcastle United on September 11, 2021, Ronaldo immediately scored twice.
