Description of the lot :

Superb traditional Balinese sculpture in solid teak wood (Djati) carved, polychromed and enhanced with gilding, depicting a divinity seated holding a Naga (mythical serpent).

The divinity is crowned with a complex (Candi) headdress richly carved, dressed in traditional attire and bears an expressive look highlighted by relief eyes and a fine mustache. The reverse shows sculpted hair cascading down the back.

Origin : Bali, Indonesia.

Era : First half of the 20th century (circa 1920–1940).

Materials : Solid teak wood (Djati), original pigments, traces of gilding.

Dimensions : Height 44.2 cm × Width 21.7 cm × Depth 16 cm.

Good overall condition upon discovery with its original polychromy and gilding well preserved.
