Description from the seller
A striking work by the Dutch painter and poet Lucebert, titled 'Le Sorcier Chinois' - French for The Chinese Sorcerer.
The work presents Lucebert’s characteristic imaginative visual language: expressive forms, spontaneous brushwork and a dreamlike, almost mythical atmosphere.

Lucebert was closely associated with the Dutch branch of the international CoBrA movement, whose artists embraced experimentation, spontaneity and freedom from academic conventions. His work can be viewed in the context of artists such as Karel Appel, Constant, Corneille, Asger Jorn, Pierre Alechinsky, Eugène Brands and Christian Dotremont.
