Splendid and rare pair of vintage coffee table lamps (lampshade/ab tel-jour) dating from the mid-20th century (roughly the 1950s/60s), of refined Italian craftsmanship. The central stems, characterized by an elegant and classic line, are made of finely turned natural green onyx, with warm, unique veining for each piece. All metal finishes (the stepped circular base, decorative collars, and the upper ring holding the shade) are in solid 800 silver, finely chased and worked with geometric motifs, fluting, and leaf details. The upper ring features the decorative, curved arms originally intended to support dome-shaped glass lampshades. Provenance of excellence: The lamps bear under the blue velvet base the original paper label of the historic and exclusive jewelry/silverware shop “Ugo Ghiraldin” of Padua (Via S. Francesco 38), active since 1950. The old five-digit phone number on the sticker confirms its era. Hallmarks and Marks: The upper ring clearly shows the Italian silver hallmarks: the “800” mark enclosed in an oval (metal purity) and the manufacturer’s polygonal punch.
