A beautiful lot of 3 bottles of Riesling Ried Loibenberg Smaragd 2018 from F.X. Pichler, one of the great names from Austria's Wachau.

Loibenberg is among the best-known and most highly regarded vineyards in the Wachau. The steep, sunny terraces above Loibenberg produce powerful and concentrated Rieslings, but at the same time the characteristic freshness, minerality and tension for which the best wines from this region are so beloved.
The Smaragd designation stands for the most powerful and ripe dry wines within the traditional Wachau classification. In the hands of F.X. Pichler this yields a Riesling with great depth and impressive aging potential.

The 2018 Loibenberg Riesling Smaragd combines ripe citrus and stone fruit with mineral notes, delicate spiciness and a long, concentrated finish. Through bottle aging the wine has already gained additional complexity, while good Wachau Riesling of this level can still evolve for many years.
F.X. Pichler enjoys an excellent international reputation, and the wines from the great Wachau terroirs belong to the most sought-after Austrian white wines. Loibenberg is one of the classic top sites of the estate.
