Estimated period 1980-1990, conical ceramic trumpet of terracotta from Agost (Alicante), Spain, 47 cm high and 16 cm in diameter, signed with the initials GP, in very good condition with a fine microcrack near the base.
Description from the seller
Large ceramic conical trumpet with incised decoration, signed
Signed with initials 'G P'
Date: 1982
Material: Terracotta: baked red clay
Dimensions: 47 cm high x 16 cm in diameter
It features a cone-shaped acoustic pavilion or amplifier, the distal end open with a flared rim and a slight eave. The mouthpiece, cup-shaped, has open or hollow walls and a conical interior
Among Spain's traditional clay instruments, this trumpet or aerophone was made in Agost (Alicante), in the workshops of the Piqueres family or the Vicedo family, both with a long tradition in pottery and artisanal ceramics
Confirming its status as a one-of-a-kind handmade piece, wheel marks and the potter's marks are visible on the surface
Condition: Very Good, new or as new. It shows a very fine line or micro-crack near the base, which does not pass into the interior of the piece or affect its structure. These fine lines on the surface are often the result of stresses during firing in the kiln or abrupt temperature changes (thermal shock) (See photos)
