Two heavy crystal serving trays by Val Saint Lambert from the Diamants et pierreries line, a square 22 × 22 cm × 3 cm high (1500 g) and an oval 13 × 19 cm × 3 cm (500 g), total 2000 g, dating to 1910–1920 with a relief signature on the square piece and a very good condition for the oval piece.
Description from the seller
This set consisting of two heavy crystal serving trays is an iconic creation from the prestigious Belgian crystal manufactory Val Saint Lambert, designed in the early twentieth century and documented in the official manufacturer catalog for the year 1913. Both pieces share the historic geometric decoration of the diamonds and gemstones line, characterized by deeply cut patterns that intensely catch the light. The large square-shaped tray features a flat central surface adorned in its heart with an imposing radiating starburst with sharp points, while its wide scalloped border is entirely chiseled. This centerpiece features its official signature Val St Lambert engraved in relief directly into the mass on the inner wall. The second tray, oval-shaped and smaller in size, displays a particularly complex all-over decoration where a multitude of small diamonds cut into regular diamond points extend over the entire bottom and walls under a delicately indented rim. This oblong model does not include a signature engraved into the glass, which remains consistent with the manufacturer habits for items of this size at that time. The dimensions of the large square model are 3 cm in height for a width of 22 cm on each side, with an individual weight of 1500 g. The small oval model measures 3 cm in height, 13 cm in width and 19 cm in length, for a weight of 500 g. The total weight of this two-piece lot amounts to 2000 g. Regarding the condition of the set, the large square tray is in good original general condition with some scattered minor scratches and signs of surface wear from use on its flat transparent crystal bottom consistent with its age, while the small oval tray is in very good general condition, free of any cracks, chips on its cut points or restorations.
