Hexagonal ship lantern in brass and glass, dating to the late 20th century, of Dutch origin.
Description from the seller
a beautiful and characteristic hexagonal ship's lantern (cabin lantern), finished in yellow brass and red brass (messing). This lantern is designed in the timeless style of historical English maritime lighting from the early 20th century (inspired by models from Bulpitt & Sons and Eli Griffiths, among others).
The lantern is handcrafted with attention to historical details. Thus the frame features hand-applied solder points and a classic rivet under the cap. The round ventilation chimney on the top provides excellent heat dissipation and gives the lamp its iconic nautical silhouette. At the top there is a generous carrying and suspension bracket.
The interior is in a very clean, untouched condition. At the bottom the lamp is fitted with a small functional drainage hole and subtle, natural signs of aging (slight copper oxidation at the edges) that give the object an instantly lived-in character. Today this lantern is perfectly suited as a atmospheric focal piece in an industrial or maritime interior, equipped with a tealight or pillar candle.
