Description from the seller
Description of the work:
Beautiful advertising poster printed in Barcelona by C. Friedrichs, undated (circa 1930).
This work uses chromolithography, offering colors of great vivacity and excellent depth.
Visual:
The illustration poetically and surrealistically depicts a bicycle with wings (evoking the world of the nascent aviation or freedom), soaring majestically above the famous Basilica of Nuestra Señora del Pilar in Zaragoza (Zaragoza, Spain).
Technical features:
Artist / Printer: C. Friedrichs (Barcelona)
Era: Circa 1930
Technique: Original chromolithography
Dimensions: 112 x 77.5 cm (canvas overlapping by +/- 5 cm)
Condition:
The poster is generally in good condition given its age. It shows light damp stains (humidity traces) localized only on the left margin, without alteration of the main motif.
Restoration:
This original poster has undergone professional restoration with backing. The colors have retained their full brilliance. As with any piece restored according to the highest standards, stabilization interventions on the paper are slightly perceptible under grazing light and from less than one meter away. The poster is sound, stable and ready to be framed.
The poster has been professionally restored around the central part, from the edge of the right wing to two-thirds of the “G” (old hole filled).
It is mounted on a 175 g unprimed cotton canvas, with the insertion of a Bolloré paper of 28 g between the poster and the cotton, guaranteeing optimal and reversible conservation. The work is of great finesse and the poster retains all its visual splendor. Please carefully review the latest detailed photos to appreciate the quality of this restoration.
