NBA
In 1995 he began his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves, who that year, due to the poor results of the previous season, were allowed to select from the young talent as one of the first teams. They drafted him fifth in the First Round. In 2003-04 he was named MVP of the season.

The Boston Celtics acquired Kevin Garnett in a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves for Gerald Green, Ryan Gomes, Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Sebastian Telfair, a 2009 First-Round Draft Pick (Top-3 Protected) and a return of Minnesota's First-Round Draft Pick previously obtained in the Ricky Davis for Wally Szczerbiak deal plus additional cash.

With the Celtics Garnett joined a team with top players Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, who had previously joined that month from the Seattle SuperSonics. For the Celtics, the arrival of Garnett and Allen signaled the start of a new era. With three experienced players (the so-called "Big Three") at the top of the NBA, complemented by young talents such as Rajon Rondo, the Celtics immediately won the NBA Championship in 2008 by defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in the Finals 4-2. In 2010 he again reached the NBA Finals with the Celtics but this time they fell to the Lakers, losing the series 4-3.

In the summer of 2013 Garnett was traded to the Brooklyn Nets, along with his teammate Paul Pierce.

In February 2015 Garnett returned to the team where he began his NBA career, the Minnesota Timberwolves.

On Saturday, September 24, 2016, Kevin Garnett announced his retirement after a 21-season career.
